We are now pre-booking all routine non-urgent medication reviews with out in house pharmacists. These appointments can be pre-booked (this avoids patients having to make multiple calls at 8am) and frees up GP’s time to see other patients with the most complex needs. We kindly ask you to pre-book your medication reviews in advance unless you are advised otherwise. |

Enhanced access appointments It is being introduced to patients that we will have enhanced access appointments coming to us from two location hubs beginning 1st October 2022. The hubs will be located at:
What is enhanced access? In North West Leicestershire the 12 practices are working n collaboration as a primary care network (PCN). As a PCN this allows us to work differently and provides services jointly or at a scale. From 1st October 2022 the PCN will be providing enhanced access appointments and these will be between: 6:30pm-8:00pm Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:00pm Saturday. To start with they will be offering covid vaccinations from the hubs and will expand this to include GP appointments, smears, dressings, long term condition reviews, other vaccinations and will add other services as required to meet the needs of our patient populations. Appointments are available to book and cancel through your GP practice. When your practice is closed please telephone 01530 566550, if they are unable to answer your call please leave a message or email llrib-llr.nwlpcn@nhs.net. they will also be making available online booking functionality for this service, details will be added to the websites once they have gone live. |

House support fund
| Are you struggling financially during the current cost of living crisis?
The Household Support Fund is money provided by the Government to local authorities to support families and individuals most in need with a one-off payment towards food and heating costs. Examples of people who may qualify for support include individuals and families surviving on benefits or on a low income, clinically vulnerable people, and people from the gypsy and travelling communities. How to Apply for Support via Your GP Practice If you feel you may meet the criteria for support, and you are registered with a GP Practice in North West Leicestershire* please contact your surgery and tell them you would like a Social Prescribing Link Worker to make an application on your behalf to the Household Support Fund. Pharmacy FirstPharmacy first is a scheme that launched on the 31st of January 2024 by NHS England and the government. It enables patients to receive treatment for specific conditions straight from their local pharmacy, without needing to see a GP. Highly trained community pharmacists are now able to prescribe prescription only medications such as antibiotics and antivirals when necessary to help treat specific illnesses. What can the pharmacy treat?There are seven new conditions that the pharmacies are now able to see and prescribe treatment for.
Who can’t they see?
How does it work?When you call the GP surgery, your illness will be triaged by a member of staff and if you fit the criteria, a referral will be sent over to a local pharmacy. You would then need to contact the selected pharmacy within one hour after the referral, to arrange a face-to-face appointment where they can further assess your illness.
